AM: Class 1 Week 3

Week 3 was all about Planning & Blocking. Planning, planning, planning. Planning is obviously very important. You should always know what you are going to do with your shot BEFORE you ever touch the computer. Visualize your shot by closing your eyes and imagining it mentally. Capture it on paper! Brainstorm, never go with your first idea. Gut instincts tend to be cliche. Cliches are overused ideas. You want to stay with what's current in culture. Observe, observe, observe. Your best reference is personal experience! KEEP A SKETCHBOOK. Thumbnail your ideas. Use video reference. Give feedback, share your work. Look for repeat comments and see what can be improved. These are all things you can do BEFORE touching the computer!

Blocking is basically using the least amount of information necessary to clearly communicate your ideas.

There are 3 methods of Blocking.

1. Layering: Breaking movements down to simplest parts like body and head.
2. Pose to Pose: Treating each pose like a drawing. Key poses.
3. Straight Ahead: Working through every frame. Spontaneous.

And finally... K.I.S.S. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!

We finally got into animating this week! Here is my work for week 3!
